Are you ready to begin your new career as a Texas real estate agent? The CE Shop has everything you need to get started and set up for success.

I’m Michael with The CE Shop, here to tell you that getting your Texas real estate license is as easy as following these four steps.

Qualification

To qualify, you must first be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien. You have to be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Texas, and you must meet the Texas Real Estate Commission’s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity. Click here [bottom of screen] to view those qualifications.

Step 1: Education

You must complete six 30-hour courses for a total of 180 classroom hours. These courses can be taken in person or online in a convenient do-at-your-own-pace format such as the program offered by The CE Shop. All course completion documents must be submitted to TREC, and some education providers do this for you.

Step 2: Application

You can file your application either online or by mail, and application process times and fees may vary. You’ll next have your fingerprints taken by the Texas Department of Public Safety so that a background check can be performed.

Step 3: License Exam

You’ll be sent a notice with instructions for scheduling the license exam, which is administered by PearsonVUE. You’ll also receive a copy of the Candidate Handbook, which covers exam content and info. If you fail this exam three times, you’ll have to retake your Pre-Licensing coursework.

Step 4: Sponsor

Once you pass the license exam, you’ll be issued an inactive license. In order to start working as a real estate agent, you have to be sponsored by an active Texas licensed broker, and you can find one using TREC’s website. Once a broker has accepted your request, your active license will be issued and you can begin work as a new sales agent.
